Jürg, Swiss-born chef and the founder of Bleiker`s Smokehouse, which is a household name throughout the UK, began smoking in 1988, converting a small stable in the garden of the family home on the North Yorkshire Moors. The business rapidly grew- it is now the country's No.1 selling brand (excluding Supermarkets' own brands). It has recently moved to larger premises and is operated by two of Jürg`s sons-in-law.
Jürg has had a new lease of life, running the Malt Shovel Inn with his wife Jane and son and daughter-in-law, D`Arcy and Anna, and it is here that customers can sample his unique award-winning innovations such as Crackshot Beef (using Crackshot Ale), Juniper Smoked Tuna and Smoked Free-Range Chicken. These are all smoked on the premises by the man himself and our Smokeboard changes weekly!
